The Rockford Park District has received national recognition status in several areas, including Sportscore Two being recognized as Soccer Field Complex of the Year for 2005 by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA). Sports Illustrated Magazine and the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) with the selection of Rockford as "Sportstown USA" for the state of Illinois. NRPA has also awarded the prestigious National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management twice to the Rockford Park District.
